Dariusz Ziółek - Forget Not Yet. Premiere: November 9 (SJRecords 067)
FORGET NOT YET is the fourth original album of bass guitarist Dariusz Ziółek. The leader invited outstanding instrumentalists of the young generation to record: Joaquin Sosa, Grzegorz Ziółek and Bartosz Szablowski. These musicians perfectly fit the concept of the leader, who consistently affirms melodics on his records, making it the dominant element of both composition and improvisation. The album consists of works by Dariusz Ziółek and pianist Grzegorz Ziółek.
The artists, despite their clearly audible fascination with contemporary music, do not hide their respect for the broadly understood tradition and draw inspiration from both the achievements of classical composers and the mainstream jazz. While Dariusz Ziółek's previous albums were dominated by bass guitar solo parts, the FORGET NOT YET album was dominated by improvisations of the saxophone, clarinet, flugelhorn (Joaquin Sosa) and piano (Grzegorz Ziółek). The distinctive sound of the leader bass guitar (Rickenbaker 4001), extremely rarely used in this type of music, gives the band a highly individualized sound.
