Tomasz Wendt - Chapter B - premiere 22 Nov 2019 (SJRecords 047)
Chapter B is Tomasz Wendt’s second original album. His phonographic debut, Behind the Strings album recorded with his trio and the Atom String Quartet, gained recognition in the polish music industry and has brought him the Frederyk 2017 award for jazz phonographic debut. Besides the seemingly popular electric trio, without bass or bass guitar, one can hear the violin on Chapter B that is supposed to break the typical electric sound concept. The instrumentation is original, the sound texture is innovative and the music is full of emotions and deep artistic sensations.
The project’s repertoire (as in the first solo album) consists only of the author’s own compositions.
People who contributed to the album apart from the saxophonist:
- Jan Smoczynski – keyboards
- Pawel Dobrowolski - drums
- Mateusz Smoczynski – violin, electronics
Tomasz Wendt has won a lot of prestigous festival contests both in Poland and abroad, e.g Klucz do Kariery, I prize in the Jazz nad Odrą festival contest, I prize in the Jazz Improvisation contest in Katowice, II prize in the Jazz Juniors contest and II prize in Getxo Jazz Festival in Spain. Tomasz had a pleasure to perform with many significant musicians such as Grzegorz Nagórski, Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Schmidt, Jan Smoczyński, Mateusz Smoczyński, Artur Lesicki, Eric Marienthal (USA), Dean Brown (USA), Kuba Stankiewicz, Joachim Mencel, Michał Miśkiewicz or Urszula Dudziak.
